There’s a newness and an oldness to these pieces that I can’t describe. I remember my grandmother beckoning me over to her purse under the exasperated sighs of my mother and aunts, where she kept silk sachets filled with gold trinkets (never fake) and would hand them out to her granddaughters like the butterscotch candies that also made their home there.
